Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic had significant impacts on people's lives, including those who were already facing social and structural challenges before the pandemic, such as LGBTI+ people. Objective: This article aimed to reflect on the experiences of LGBTI+ people regarding access to health, education, and work during the COVID-19 pandemic, identifying the main obstacles faced by this population and discussing how the pandemic intensified the social barriers imposed on sexual and gender minorities. Methods: Online and synchronous focus groups were conducted with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Results: There were greater obstacles to accessing healthcare, especially for the transgender population, who already faced difficulties in reaching primary care. Additionally, increased unemployment and disruption of education were highlighted, as well as mental and physical health. Conclusion: The findings contribute to a critical reflection on the intensification of social barriers imposed on LGBTI+ people, as well as social isolation, as a new collective worldwide experience already lived by the transgender population. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop public policies and strategies for the inclusion of LGBTI+ people in times of crisis, aiming to ensure access to essential services.
