Abstract

The Discipline of Extension Practices in Social Sciences 2 chose to utilize audiovisuals as a powerful tool for addressing important themes such as social inequality, gender inequality, and sexism. Through visual and auditory resources, audiovisual materials have the potential to emotionally impact and effectively raise awareness among the audience. By conveying relevant messages and fostering reflections, short videos, documentaries, and films become instruments of social transformation. This initiative aims to establish dialogical relationships between the Federal University of Alagoas and society, integrating with the curriculum framework and research organization, as per Resolution No. 7 of December 18, 2008. With the capacity to reach and engage diverse audiences, the selection of the documentary "Inequality Kills!", produced by journalists from Curitiba-PR and the short film "Purl" from Pixar, was based on methodological criteria, seeking a connection with the reality experienced by the students. Following the screening of these audiovisual contents, debates were promoted, and students were asked to develop critical analyses of the presented themes.
