SBPC-AL PROJECT: BUILDING BRIDGES FOR SCIENCE IN ALAGOAS

Abstract

This study presents a descriptive account of the experience with the SBPC-AL Project, an extension initiative developed by the Regional Secretariat of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science in Alagoas, in partnership with the Federal University of Alagoas. The project aims to disseminate, popularize, and support science in Alagoas, targeting the local community, with a particular focus on researchers and individuals interested in science. The activities included science communication and dissemination through both remote and in-person modalities, involving social media posts and participation in scientific events. The results highlight the strengthening of the local scientific community, increased public engagement, and enhanced visibility of the research in Alagoas. The project has proven to be an opportunity to reinforce the field of science, technology, and innovation in Alagoas while also encouraging students and professionals involved and fostering interdisciplinary learning. The continuity of these initiatives is essential to consolidate SBPC-AL as a bridge between researchers and society.
