Abstract

The Radar Alert Laboratory (LAR) is a space in the Weather Radar Tower of the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), simulated as an alert room for students and technicians to practice and also for the involvement of society and the university. Severe events have occurred quite frequently around the world, and in the state of Alagoas, the installation of the Radar is of utmost importance for forecasting the weather within an radius of up to 400 km, allowing for advance predictions of events that could cause damage to society. The objective is to provide students with experience in the practice of alerts, studies and analyses of precipitation regimes in the region where the instrument is located, through social networks and exhibition in the area of the instruments for visitors, the connection with the population is to clarify and expand scientific content in society's daily life and learn about active systems that occur in the state. With this, the dialogue between the university and the population is motivated by the necessity to share scientific content and knowledge about the meteorological instrument, which is efficient for research and has positive impact for the population.
